Recognizing a need in areas where specialty programs like Allergy and Immunology are unavailable, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) launched an initiative in 2013 to develop a core curriculum that community-based allergists can use to offer a comprehensive allergy/immunology elective to medical students and residents. The focus is on six topic areas, each with a set of reading and multimedia materials that serve as the basis for the curriculum, which the resident or medical student can review during the elective. There are also sets of test questions which can be used as pre- and post-tests to measure what was learned.
AAAAI members interested in serving as volunteer faculty and sponsoring medical students and residents in their practices can sign up here.
Medical students and residents who are interested in doing a rotation with an allergy/immunology practice should contact email@example.com.
