2702: Confounders of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS): Approaches to the Symptomatic Patient When the Criteria for MCAS Are Not Met

February 27, 2021

Patients can present for workup of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome with a myriad of symptoms which appear to meet the first criterion for MCAS, i.e. typical clinical signs of severe, recurrent episodic systemic mast cell activation. But in many cases, despite having significant symptoms and some evidence for mast cell activity, the criteria for MCAS are not met. Confounding the work up is that there are conditions that produce similar symptoms but present no evidence for mast cell activation. This session will discuss differential diagnoses and conditions considered in these cases.
