The purpose of this activity is to provide board certified allergists/immunologists and nurses who work in the allergy field with information on topics that promote best practices among clinicians. Topics include:Stress and Immunity- A Precision Medicine-Based Assessment; An Approach to Preschool Recurrent Wheezing; Biologics in Asthma and Other Atopic Disorders; and Genetic Immune Disorders.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe relevant cytokine targets in asthma and other allergic diseases
  • Discuss clinical trial data from studies of biologics in asthma and other allergic diseases
  • Describe clinical features of genetic immune diseases
  • Identify the bottlenecks in making a genetic diagnosis
  • Define the physiological roles that psychological stress impacts, from neuroendocrine to immune to clinical effects
  • Discuss the approach to reducing or managing psychological stress in patients with allergy- or asthma-related diseases
  • Recognize the causes of initial and pursuant airway reactivity in young children
  • Identify the interventions for acute and chronic wheezing in young children
