The 2023 TAAIS Annual Meeting, spanning three half-days, will offer state-of-the-art advances in allergic, asthmatic and immunologic diseases. Nationally renowned experts from across the U.S. will engage the practicing allergist/immunologist and discuss the most challenging problems in patients with allergies, asthma and immunodeficiencies. In addition, Allergy fellows-in-training will provide a first-hand snapshot of the exciting allergy/immunology research going on in the State of Texas. Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain new approaches to antibiotic delabeling
  • Describe the differential diagnosis for pruritic rashes
  • Recognize therapeutic implications of key research insights for targeted therapies in atopic dermatitis
  • Discuss the role of the speech-language pathologist in assessing and treating VCD and chronic cough, and the main components addressed during the course of speech therapy to successfully treat these complex disorders
  • Develop a practical approach to diagnosis and management of non-IgE mediated food allergy
  • Explain indications and protocols for oral food challenges
  • Discuss how to combat HR issues in light of the current financial environment
  • Describe the role played by the Texas Medical Association and the American Medical Association in advocating for physicians and their patients
  • Discuss the mechanisms for national advocacy efforts in areas that impact allergy, asthma, and immunology
  • Explain the Texas legislative process and describe the progress of legislation to improve awareness and training around food allergens in Texas restaurants
  • Identify and characterize genetic diseases leading to atopy which can be encountered in clinical allergy settings
  • Describe socioeconomic and other contextual factors that impact asthma management
  • Explain the diagnostic criteria and classification of clonal and nonclonal mast cell disorders, including mastocytosis and MCAS
  • Recognize the diagnostic significance of elevated tryptase level
  • Discuss the controversies and opportunities for research in diagnosis of MCAS
