Microaggressions Response Training Workshop: What are Microaggressions and How to go from a Bystander to an Upstander
Unconscious biases can impact clinical decision-making, medical research, workforce diversity and the interactions amongst colleagues and staff. Recognizing and addressing implicit biases that unconsciously affect our individual understanding, actions and evaluations is critically important in healthcare settings. As allergists/immunologists who are committed to providing high-quality research, we must be cognizant of the role of implicit bias and understand how it can contribute to disparities among colleagues in our field from historically marginalized backgrounds.
In this series, we aim to examine the impact of implicit bias on fellow and faculty recruitment, deepen the participant’s understanding of internal biases and explore solutions to reducing bias on individual and institutional levels.
