Diagnosis: A Practical Patient Scenario for Primary Care Providers
Designed for Primary Care Providers (PCPs), this patient scenario invites learners to conduct an initial telehealth visit and determine, based on clinical history and presenting symptoms, which tests to run and whether there are patterns of immunodeficiency that indicate the patient should be referred to an Allergy/Immunology Specialist. We encourage Allergy/Immunology Specialists or advanced practice providers to also complete this case.
Diagnosis of PIDD is often delayed due to missed patterns of immunodeficiency and critical documentation of the patient’s history and other quality of life factors. This patient case will provide an opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the Signs & Symptoms and Telehealth modules. Learners will be introduced virtually to a suspected PIDD patient and make decisions about how to communicate with and determine appropriate next steps for the patients. Learners will receive feedback on the decisions they make throughout the case.
Providing Enhanced Medical Support for Patients with Primary Immunodeficiency Disorders (PIDD) is funded through an educational grant from Pfizer.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- In a virtual patient scenario, identify signs and symptoms that might indicate PIDD
- Determine if the virtual patient should be referred to an A/I specialist
- Perform differential diagnosis for the virtual patient
