New England Society of Allergy Spring 2020 Physicians' Meeting

Due to concerns about COVID-19 and increasing numbers of travel and meeting restrictions, the NESA Spring Meetings have been canceled. Any further information will be posted here as it is received from NESA leadership.

NESA provides ongoing educational meetings to allow our members to stay up to date with the latest developments in the field of Allergy and Immunology. The Spring 2020 MD meeting will focus on:

  • Allergen extract preparation and the new regulations
  • Microbiome and food allergy
  • Lessons from infant food challenges

Physicians may attend the morning portion of the Allied Health meeting for an additional fee. Scroll to the bottom of this page to download a PDF of the agenda for the Allied Health Practitioners' Update.  

Please note that there is a separate site to register for this meeting. Click HERE to register and pay the additional fee. You will also need to return to that meeting's site to claim credit for that portion of the meeting.

Online registration will continue through 5:00 pm Eastern time on Friday, March 27.

Walk-in registration will begin on Friday, April 3, at 11:30 am. There will be a $50 late registration fee for walk-in attendees.

 

Target Audience

Our target audience consists of NESA members and physicians interested in Allergy and Immunology (including any fellows-in-training) and any Allied Health Professional including RN's, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants interested in increasing their fund of knowledge in the field.

 

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the process of preparation and the standardization of manufacturers' extracts
  • Discuss the current regulations and challenges in the preparation of extracts
  • Identify appropriate patients and dosing for infant food challenges
  • Implement infant food challenges in the outpatient setting
  • Review the pitfalls of infant food challenges
  • Explain the role of the gut microbiota in preventing food allergies
  • Discuss new therapies targeting microbiota manipulation for food allergies
  • Counsel patients on the use of probiotics in managing and preventing food allergies
