Drug Allergy Assessment Using Telemedicine and Electronic Consultations

Over the past few years, enhanced technology has increased our opportunities to use telemedicine and improved our ability to care for patients at a distance. As COVID-19 has accelerated the adoption of telemedicine, practices may be wondering about existing options for expanding care through telemedicine. This video lecture discusses how telemedicine and e-consults can be used for evaluation of drug allergy, when and how to offer a direct challenge to penicillin and other medications, and when an at-home reintroduction is appropriate.
