2016 VAM: 1202 - Diagnostic Challenges in Mastocytosis: Serum Tryptase, Allele-Specific PCR and GI Pathology
The problem of evaluating an elevated serum tryptase value is common and widespread. The significance of the elevation depends on several factors that can be sorted out using a comprehensive understanding of the probabilities of mastocytosis, familial tryptasemia and mast cell activation disorder and currently available laboratory tests.
In this session, several paradigms for predicting mastocytosis on the basis of clinical findings and laboratory tests will be discussed. The appropriate subsequent tests and the indications/non-indications for bone marrow biopsy will also be reviewed.
