Cow's milk allergy is a common allergic problem for infants and young children. The clinical presentation is not always straightforward; diagnosis and management of complex cases can be challenging and impact quality of life. This online module is designed to help physicians and other healthcare professionals diagnose and manage cow's milk allergy in their practices.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the prevalence and natural history of cow’s milk allergy
  2. Identify the symptoms seen with IgE-mediated cow’s milk allergy
  3. Select appropriate diagnostic tools and interpret test results to make an accurate diagnosis of cow’s milk allergy
  4. Outline effective strategies for practical management of cow’s milk avoidance
  5. Explain the nutritional risks of cow’s milk allergy
  6. Demonstrate how to replace the nutrients lost on the milk elimination diet through appropriate substitution
