Diagnosis: A Practical Patient Scenario for Allergy/Immunology Specialists

Designed for Allergy/Immunology specialists, this patient scenario invites the learner to examine a patient’s history, presentation, and test results to determine a unifying diagnosis for their health issues. The case will require the learner to utilize proper diagnosis and communication strategies to provide the best care to the patient.

Diagnosis of PIDD is often delayed due to missed patterns of immunodeficiency and critical documentation of the patient’s history and other quality of life factors. This patient case provides an opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the Signs and Symptoms and Telehealth modules. Learners will be introduced virtually to a suspected PIDD patient and make decisions about how to communicate with and determine appropriate next steps for the patient. Learners will receive feedback on the decisions they make throughout the case.

Providing Enhanced Medical Support for Patients with Primary Immunodeficiency (PIDD) Disorders is funded through an educational grant from Pfizer.

Learning Objectives

  2. Diagnose a virtual patient based on clinical history, presentation, and test results  
  3. Determine a plan for treatment and follow-up for the virtual patient
