The Why and How for Home-Based Strategies to Improve Allergy and Asthma Disease

Session 1003 from the 2017 AAAAI Annual Meeting aims to present findings from research studies conducted by community-based and federally funded programs that have expertise in the implementation of home visit strategies for abatement of asthma triggers. Clinicians will be provided with tools that would assist in determining the benefits to the patient from a home assessment while also outlining the limitations associated with current practices.

  • Identify why home visits can be more successful if they are tailored for the geographic region, knowledge of indoor mold issues, housing stock and socio-cultural characteristics of the population
  • Discuss standardized home assessment tools that are publicly available and how to report results to patients and providers
