The AAAAI Foundation and Phil and Barbara Lieberman and Friends Lecture: Investing Together in Our Future

Phil and Barbara Lieberman photoPhil Lieberman is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine in the Allergy/Immunology division of the University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine in Memphis TN.  He is a graduate of the University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine and did his residency in Internal Medicine at this institution and completed his Allery-Immunology Fellowship at Northwestern University Medical school.

Upon completion of his fellowship he returned to the University of Tennessee to found the Allergy-Immunology Division in the Department of Medicine. He is a past president of the AAAAI.

2020 marks the 6th year of the AAAAI Foundation and Phil and Barbara Lieberman and Friends Lectureship: Investing Together in Our Future.

He received his medical degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and he did his pediatric residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and his Allergy fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Following that he returned to Children’s Mercy Hospital. Dr. Portnoy has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals involving asthma disease management, environmental control, mold allergy, evidence-based medicine and more recently on telemedicine. He served as co-chair of the Joint Taskforce on Practice Parameters and he served on the Allergy/Immunology RRC and recently was a director on the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Portnoy currently serves on numerous committees both of the American College and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. He lives in Overland Park, KS with his wife and two cats which is OK since neither one has cat allergy.
