Early life respiratory infections are major determinants of childhood asthma. This symposium will review the latest data on the contribution of infectious agents to childhood asthma inception, phenotypic-based approaches for the management of asthma among preschool children, and approaches for primary prevention of childhood asthma.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the role of early life bacterial and viral infections in asthma inception
- Identify phenotype-based therapy for the prevention of asthma exacerbations among preschool children
- Discuss clinical trials aiming for asthma prevention
