Requirements to apply:
- Must be a current Fellow of the AAAAI (FAAAAI), or in the process of applying for Fellowship. Emeritus and Honorary Fellows are not eligible to serve.
- Must not be a current or past leader of another AAAAI Interest Section or the AAAAI Board of Directors.
- Must not work in/for industry, due to Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) provider guidelines.
- Must not hold a similar leadership position involved in educational programming or overall governance within another national or international allergy/immunology association (i.e., Board of Directors/Regents, Annual Meeting Programming or CCPE Committees).
Duties and Expectations (if elected):
- Ultimately ascending to Interest Section Chair, as part of a six-year leadership commitment (2 years each as Secretary, Vice Chair and Chair).
- Appointments to both the Annual Meeting Program Committee (AMPC) and Interest Section Coordinating Committee (ISCC) during this time.
- Participation in the Annual Meeting programming development process, including conference calls and attendance at the annual programming meeting (currently held in-person in June each year).
- Participation in the abstract review process, including attendance at the abstract review meeting (currently held virtually in late October/early November each year).
- The workload requirement is typically one to two hours per month, with the exception of Annual Meeting programming (March-July), when additional work hours may be required. Typical work duties include responding to emails and phone calls, as well as reviewing drafts of work group reports that are submitted by various committees falling under that Interest Section.
