Breathe 4 Baby: Asthma & Pregnancy

This interactive course has been designed by the AAAAI Women's Health Committee and Vaccines and Medications in Pregnancy Safety Studies (VAMPSS) Taskforce, in collaboration with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), to help educate clinical providers on the effects that asthma has on pregnancy, the effects pregnancy has on asthma and the health risks associated with uncontrolled asthma during pregnancy. The modules will cover the effect of pregnancy on asthma, including the mechanisms leading to adverse outcomes in pregnant asthmatics; how to diagnose and monitor asthma during pregnancy and review the available safety and efficacy data on medications during asthma and lactation; the health disparities and social determinants of health impacting the management of asthma during pregnancy; and resources available for providers and patients, including the Breathe 4 Baby Toolkit.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Analyze the unique challenges affecting asthma management and control during pregnancy and lactation
- Apply guideline-based recommendations for the treatment of asthma in pregnant patients
- Recognize the impact of social determinants of health and health disparities on asthma control
- Promote effective asthma self-management strategies
- Integrate available disease management resources into practice and facilitate shared decision-making with patients
