Foundations of Effective Education Sessions
This online module is the first component of the Interactive Education Institute, which aims to train Annual Meeting faculty on interactive instructional strategies that reflect principles of adult learning. The module starts by comparing documented effectiveness of instructional types and instructional formats that promote active learning. It then describes three principles of adult learning and approaches for supporting each before providing details about six strategies for encouraging active learning. In the final section of the online module, learners apply the concepts covered in the module to draft initial ideas for how they might support adult learners and incorporate opportunities for active learning in their upcoming Annual Meeting session.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- When structuring the session, identify two characteristics of the learners and make plans to support how they learn
- When considering the topic of the session, draft at least two goals for learners
- When developing the session plan, implement at least two strategies to encourage active learning

AAAAI Disclosure Policy
Pursuant to the Code of Ethics for the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) and the Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, the AAAAI requires disclosure of certain information from faculty members of educational activities designated for CME credit by the AAAAI. Prior to the activity, authors and reviewers are required to disclose all relationships that meet the following parameters:
- Employment: Name of employer and job title.
